​​​​Jamie Cowperthwait​ is a composer, lyricist, and playwright working in theater, television, and film.  He holds an MFA in Musical Theater Writing from Tisch’s Graduate Musical Theater Writing Program.  He has written a handful of musicals, some short, some long.  His ten-minute musical, Exit Row, was performed as part of the 2010 Pace University Director’s Festival.  In 2011-12, he was the Musical Theater Resident at Playwrights Horizons in New York City.  In 2013, he wrote the lyrics for The Royal Palm, which was performed as part of the 4@15 Festival in New York City.  Since 2012, he has been the Musical Director for the Saturday Cast of The Possibility Project, for which he writes full-length musicals with a cast of teenagers from all five New York City Boroughs.  He is a member of Young Professionals Committee of The Possibility Project.  He is also a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Writers Workshop.

When not working in theater, Jamie writes commercial music and lyrics for clients including Coca Cola, Sears, Buick, and the State of California as well as music for short films and web shows.

Jamie has played piano with numerous bands in New York including Clint Michigan, Amy Bezunartea, and Savannah, GA based singer-songwriter Dare Dukes.
